Fire Alarm Supply, Install, Commission and Service
Effective fire detection and alarm systems are vital for the ongoing safety of the occupants, within both commercial and residential letting environments, and a legal requirement. These systems must be regularly tested, serviced and maintained.
Upgrading or Installing a New Fire Alarm System
When specifying a new fire alarm system there are several considerations, the building’s structure, the purpose and use of the building and associated legislation. All buildings with the exception of domestic premises are subject to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Responsible Person, as defined in the order, has to ensure that a comprehensive fire risk assessment is conducted in order to correctly specify a fire alarm system.
All Fire Alarm Systems basically work on a similar basis. Detectors are placed in appropriate places where they may detect smoke or heat, if this occurs or someone raises the alarm by breaking the glass unit (call point) an alarm sounder operates to warn the occupants of the building that there may be a fire and to evacuate. Depending on the size of the premises the fire alarm system may incorporate remote signalling equipment which would alert the fire service.
